Asus – Eee Keyboard
April 22, 2010
I'm not endorsing this product or concept for writers, but I can't help but admire ingenuity and technology. You've heard of computers inside monitors and even inside automobile dashboards, however Asus has built a computer around a keyboard. The Asus Eee Keyboard is actually a netbook built inside a full size keyboard.
Running the Intel Atom N270 processor, this unique hardware offers the following specs:
- 1 GB Ram
- 16 GB SSD
- WLAN 802.11 b/g/n
- Bluetooth
- 800 x 480 multi-touch display
- HDMI out from keyboard, UWB reciever, VGA out
- 3 USB ports
The Asus Eee Keyboard is "almost" available at Amazon and you can view a video of the device on YouTube.

What does the Eee Keyboard mean for writers? LOL, not much. I for one would not want to peck out a 120 page script or 500 page manuscript on a 5" LED screen. However, this blog is all about – technology and writing and everything in between – because it's important for writers to be aware of the ever evolving technological landscape. I do, however, see the benefits as it relates to someone who is focused on a specific task like accepting or rejecting hundreds of blog comments or someone who figuratively lives on Facebook. Sure, you can use a regular laptop or desktop to accomplish these tasks, but what would be the fun in that?
If you have a spare $599 and want to pick up a new toy, by all means…. Tell us about your experience.
